Oh my how words cannot describe the feeling you get when you get an entry to Qld matsuri let alone the feeling of being there amongst the rest.
Sure i might not had been the best drifter there but hell did i have a fucking fun-filled experience and id do it again in a heartbeat! it’s just an amazing feeling of euphoria, a sense of home the experience in its self was overwhelming.
Enough about feeling there as i can do on for days.
Our trip started rough as everyone slept in an hour and we didn’t even leave till 4am when we originally planned to leave at 2, but once we got in the rhythm we were so excited to get on the road we forgot a few little things for example mine and Ben’s pillows, the butane gas and fry pans for cooking and probably some more other stuff but who cares we solved it.
so we didn’t even get 15 minutes into the trip till we found something in the rear of the car was scraping which turned out to be Mick’s slip-joint on his exhaust tip of the commodore but we were all like “fuck it we waited too long for this. we are not stopping now” and off we went carrying on for a further hour till we nearly had an accident because of bad drivers.
Honestly not our fault this time!
We did survive and trekked on with our carefully selected road trip CD that Mick and i personally loved every song where at one point or another everyone sang their heart out, i probably did more than i should have sorry guys!
I love the drive to Queensland always finding interesting and beautiful places along the way, it’s always an adventure but for my first time it was a trip strictly with my mates and hell was it fun!
we did the trip up in a decent time considering the amount of stops i did on the way. reaching our first stop my Nan and pops place on the GC
where we went on down to a place we all love that Maddy had not been to… INFINITY! after taking in the GC does that i needed like condom kingdom, infinity and the markets it was quick but it was back to nan and pops place for rest to get to matsuri in the morning.
As i got within 20Km of willowbank i started to count down the distance till Champions way.
Day one was a big learning experience for me and a lot of fun thanks a lot to my man Benny boy and the 86fighters and all the other lovely people i met whom gave me tips on drifting on the Saturday night where we sat around talking shit on the drink! then moving onto the shed party which was of course a hidden dream i never thought possible, Cars. Drank. Music. Party!
Out on day two Ben put it simple for me on how to transition properly once i tried out his advice it all sunk in then i was having a ball!
We had a grand old-time, which after i decided that we should had all gone out for dinner and enjoy a nice feast which we did and it was amazing! then it was off home again straight up killing it for time back to Sydney in 10 hours thanks to Mick and his 1 stop rest break what a boss! where we got back to face reality pretty sure it was safe to say im not the only one who suffered post matsuri depression.
Now that’s over and some experience up my sleeve more track days are a must and the car has many o’ big plans in the year to come so keep your eyes peeled!
I’d really like to thanks some people, starting with the help of my family at KustomKraft fabrication! to my friends, Mick for the tow up there and the vinyl which was horror to put on at the time but still thank you!, Ben for the help and tutorials, Brad and Andy for just throwing in parts to my car in the weeks leading up-to the event and anyone whom had helped and supported me along the way!
Oh P.S. Maddy is now known as Mary.
